Sometimes, the popularity of Ben’s means you might have to wait for a table during peak hours, especially on weekends. Some diners report wanting larger portion sizes, particularly those with big appetites. While the cozy setting is charming, the limited seating might feel a bit cramped for larger groups. Although the menu does include vegetarian options, those seeking extensive alternative fare may find it lacking in variety. On occasion, customers have noted inconsistent wait times depending on the crowd, but the friendly staff usually remain attentive, helping to ease any frustrations.
Everything was excellent from start to finish. The food was freshly prepared, full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The service was fast, polite and well organized, making the whole experience even better. The atmosphere felt warm and welcoming, ideal for enjoying a traditional London meal. Prices were fair for the quality offered. We truly enjoyed our visit and will definitely come back on our next trip!
Probably the best fish & chips I’ve had on my trip to London compared to other spots around SoHo. I just ordered their traditional fish & chips with a beer. The fish was fried perfectly and it’s not too battered which I loved. The tartar sauce and mayo was on point. It was a delicious meal and customer service was excellent! I’d definitely come back here again to try their other menu items.
The batter was intensely crispy and light, not greasy at all. Inside, the fish was perfectly cooked—incredibly moist, flaky, and tender, exactly what you hope for in this classic dish. The accompanying chips were golden brown and properly textured, serving as a great side.
My wife and I went to this restaurant for fish and chips. The interior is clean and tidy. Some restaurants in London cook the fish and chips in advance, leave them on the counter, and serve them ready when the customer arrives, but at this restaurant, I noticed they prepare each order fresh. The portions are larger and more filling than other restaurants. There was ketchup, mayonnaise, and a sauce I didn't recognize. Despite all this, when I requested a hotter sauce, they immediately brought me chili dip. In addition to the staff, the owner and his wife are constantly checking to make sure everything is okay. They ask each customer how satisfied they are. They provide friendly service. I'd like to thank Mr. Ali and his team.
Best Fish & Chips in London. Delicious, fast, with service and hospitality that feel very high-end. They source their fish fresh every morning from Billingsgate Market and hand-cut the chips on site. Fun fact: no one really knows who “Ben” is - it adds to the charm of the place!
I always have a poor appetite when traveling, so I can only eat one meal a day. This place was so thankful they added an extra meal for me. This was my first time having British fish and chips, so I didn't have high expectations (other European restaurants were just average). But for someone who needs to eat anything to stay energized, this place and food were like a tonic. I walked in alone around 4:30 PM and was seated without a wait. The white wine was perfect, and everything was simply delicious. The staff were also very friendly. Next time, I'll go for the large! I'll order a larger glass of wine!
I really enjoyed everything! The fish and chips were excellent — super fresh ingredients, perfectly cooked, and the portions were generous. You can tell they care about quality. Friendly service and a nice atmosphere too. Highly recommended! 🔝
